Privacy policy

Your records stay on your device. We only receive what you send us, such as your email address when you join the list, or the text you send to AI help.

Who is responsible for your information

Chalkwise is operated by RLN Centerline Engineering, which is the personal information controller for the information described here. You can reach us at hello@chalkwise.com.

This policy follows the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and its implementing rules.

What we collect

We collect only a little, and only in these situations:

Your email address, if you join the list. The sign-up form opens your email app with a message addressed to us. We receive your email address and anything you write in it.
Text you send to AI help, when you ask a tool for a draft. The text you typed for that request is sent to an AI service provider so it can write the draft.
Technical information, like your IP address, browser type and the pages you open. Our web host records this in standard server logs.
Messages you send us, such as questions or feedback by email.

What stays on your device

The tools save your work in your browser’s local storage on your own device, and in the backup files you choose to save. That can include class lists, grades, attendance, plans and reports. We cannot see this information, and we do not receive it unless you send it to us yourself, for example by emailing a file.

Clearing your browser data removes it from that device. Keep a backup file if you want to keep it.

Learner information

Some tools let you enter learners’ names, sex, LRNs, birthdates, parent or guardian names and contact numbers. This is personal information about children.

It stays on your device unless you share a file or copy it elsewhere.
You are responsible for handling it according to your school’s policies and the Data Privacy Act. Enter only what you need.
Please do not type learner personal information into AI help. Anything you send to AI help leaves your device.

Why we use information

To run the service and the AI help you ask for.
To send launch news and updates to people who joined the list, based on your consent.
To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and apply daily limits.
To answer your messages and improve the tools.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the providers that help us run the service, and only as needed:

our web host, which stores the site and its server logs;
our AI service provider, which processes the text you send to AI help;
our email provider, which delivers the messages you send us and our updates.

We may also disclose information if the law or a valid legal order requires it. These providers may handle data outside the Philippines.

Cookies, fonts and tracking

We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not currently use analytics or tracking tools on this site. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address and browser details when a page loads. If we add analytics later, we will update this policy first.

How long we keep information

Email addresses: until you ask to be removed.
Server logs: for a short period, then deleted.
AI help requests: only as long as needed to create your draft and keep the service secure and within daily limits.
Messages to us: as long as needed to answer you and keep a record.

How we protect it

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), to protect the information we hold. No system is completely secure, and your device is part of the picture too: use a screen lock, keep your browser updated and protect your backup files.

Your rights

Under the Data Privacy Act you have the right to:

be informed about how your personal information is used;
access the information we hold about you;
correct information that is wrong;
object to certain uses, or withdraw your consent;
ask us to erase or block your information, in the cases the law allows;
receive your information in a common format, where it applies;
claim compensation for damage caused by unlawful use of your information.

To use any of these rights, or to be removed from the list, email hello@chalkwise.com. We will reply as soon as we can. You may also complain to the National Privacy Commission at privacy.gov.ph.

Children

Chalkwise is for adult teachers and school staff. It is not meant for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. Learner information that teachers enter stays on the teacher’s own device, as described above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new date, and we will tell our list about important changes.
